BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Women in Film is turning 40, and the organization celebrated its milestone birthday at its annual Crystal + Lucy Awards.

George Lucas, Laura Linney, Sophia Coppola (above) and others accepted awards Wednesday night at a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel hosted by actress Jenna Elfman.

Lucas received the humanitarian award for his educational advocacy and overall support of women. The woman he chose to run Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, thanked the Star Wars creator for bringing a "fast-talking, blaster-toting spitfire by the name of Princess Leia" to the big screen.

Linney was given the Crystal Award for excellence in film, and Coppola received the director's award, presented by Nancy Meyers.

The women of Mad Men, including January Jones, Jessica Par© and Elisabeth Moss, received the Lucy Award for excellence in television.
