Big John Bates on way with Battered Bones

Vancouver-based roots/punk rocker Big John Bates is bringing a new sound to the Pyramid Cabaret.

After 10 years with Big John Bates & the Voodoo Dollz, the singer/guitarist/banjo player has rebooted his career with a new band comprised of upright bassist Brandy Bones, drummer JT Massacre and multi-instrumentalist Khadijah, and the quartet describes its music as "like being serenaded with a rusty hammer."

The band is hitting the road in support of its new album, Battered Bones, with a stop at the Pyramid on Oct. 30. Ticket prices and on-sale date have yet to be announced.
