Country music superstar Billy Ray Cyrus will headline Aboriginal Day Live, an annual musical celebration of National Aboriginal Day that takes place at The Forks on June 21.
Winnipeg MC Leonard Sumner, Los Angeles hip-hop duo LightningCloud, Mohawk bluesman Murray Porter and Friends, Oklahoma City hip-hop duo Mike Bone, Inuit throat singer/multi-instrumentalist Nelson Tagoona and gospel singer Yvonne St. Germaine will also perform at the free concert, which will be broadcast to the rest of Canada by APTN and APTN HD.
Halifax will host a sister Aboriginal Day Live celebration that will feature A Tribe Called Red, Sierra Noble, Inez Jasper and more. That show will also be broadcast.
Last year, more than one million people were reached by the telecast on APTN, APTN HD, Aboriginal radio stations across Canada and internationally via the livestream on aboriginaldaylive.com.
