Get thick as a brick with Jethro Tull
Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull will perform the classic progressive rock album Thick as a Brick along with his latest release, Thick as a Brick 2, in their entirety Oct. 22 at the Centennial Concert Hall, it was announced Monday.
It will be the first time since 1972 the British rock group, formed in 1967, will play the complete Thick as a Brick, a concept album consisting of one song. The band’s Thick as a Brick world tour started last April in England.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets for $39.50, $59.50 and $85.50 plus taxes and fees.
The tour will feature a more theatrical production with video and additional musicians, including Anderson’s band: bassist David Goodier, keyboardist John O’Hara, drummer Scott Hammond, and guitarist Florian Opahle — all of whom have performed with the flute-playing Anderson on his solo dates over the years.
Thick as a Brick 2 answers the question 40 years later about what happened to Gerald Bostock, the fictional person credited with writing the lyrics for the original album, which hit No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard pop albums chart.
