John Einarson will host a retro music show on UMFM.

John Einarson is going to be talking about the music of his generation on the radio.

The local music historian has agreed to host a new weekly radio show, My Generation, on 101.5 UMFM Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. His first show is Feb. 18.

The show will mainly focus on music from the 1960s and 1970s, along with anecdotes and stories about the artists and the recordings. Einarson knows what he’s talking about: he has written more than a dozen music biographies, hosts a local rock ’n’ roll history bus tour and teaches a music history course at the University of Winnipeg.

His UMFM show is a volunteer gig just as was his previous radio show This Time Long Ago on nostalgia station CJNU 107.9 FM.
