Attention rockabilly fans: Are you ready to rumble?

River City Rumble has announced the entertainment lineup for Winnipeg’s first rockabilly festival, taking place Aug. 3 and 4 at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre.

Featured local acts include: The Farrell Brothers, The Brent Parkin Band, Greg Arcade and his Rockin’ Band, The Rowdymen, and The Flip Cats. There will also be guest appearances by Toronto horrorbilly group The Matadors, and Saskatoon’s The Classy Chassys.

Each day of the festival will also feature an international headliner. Saturday, it’s Texans Kim Lenz and the Jaguars. Lee Rocker, of the seminal rockabilly band The Stray Cats, will perform on Sunday.

Rounding out the entertainment is a slate of burlesque performers, including Winnipeg’s Angela Le Muse, Robin Redbreast, Scarlet Divine and Miss Ruby Red Lips. Saturday’s itinerary will also include a "dinner-and-a-movie" screening of The Burlesque Assassins, a Canadian film based on a story of wartime seduction and intrigue. Roxi D’Lite, one of the film’s stars, will give a live performance afterward.

In addition to the music and performers, RCR will feature classic cars, burlesque workshops, swing dance, ’50s-style hair and makeup and a fashion show and pinup contest.

Weekend passes are $65, $75 if purchased after July 6. Purchase at Rockabetty at 121-B Osborne St. or online at www.rivercityrumble.ca.
