St. Vincent to play jazz fest

  • Print

St. Vincent is the first artist announced to play this year’s Winnipeg International Jazz Festival.

The sonic adventuress born Annie Clark is set to perform at the Burton Cummings Theatre on June 22. Tickets are $32 plus fees and go on sale Thursday, March 6 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster, jazzwinnipeg.com or by calling the Jazz Winnipeg box office at 204-989-4656.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the release of her masterful fourth record, St. Vincent, which came out this past Tuesday. The new record is another fruit from what has been a prolific time for Clark; in 2012, she released Love This Giant, her acclaimed collaboration with art rock icon David Byrne, itself a follow-up to her arresting 2011 album Strange Mercy, which was called "one of the year’s best" by the New York Times.
