Winnipeg musician Matthew Packer has added another Winnipeg Music Festival award to his trophy case.
The 21-year-old University of Manitoba music and science student won the Lieutenant Governor’s Trophy, which goes to the most outstanding group or solo performance of the festival.
Packer had already won the Aikins Memorial Trophy for most festival’s outstanding instrumental performance and the Jean Broadfoot Trophy for the most outstanding piano sonata performance.
Packer is only the second repeat winner of the Aikins award. In 2011, he won the trophy while playing the saxophone.
