The Winnipeg Wind Ensemble opens its 25th season Sunday afternoon with a decided southern flavour.
The group will be led by South Carolina-based guest conductor Clinton Marshall. Its soloist is another South Carolinian, Beth Albert, the principal timpanist of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, who will perform John Mackey’s Raise the Roof.
Opening the show will be the River East Collegiate Wind Ensemble.
Sunday’s concert begins at 3 p.m. at Jubilee Place at the Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute, 173 Talbot Ave. Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors, will be available at the door.
