A Wylde time at the Garrick

  • Print

BLACK Label Society guitar-slinger Zakk Wylde has included Winnipeg's Garrick Centre on a 13-city Canadian tour that stops here Feb. 23.

General admission tickets, $36 plus service charges, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through unionevents.com, ticketfly.com and Music Trader.

A press release says Wylde will feature intimate versions of the band's hits, as well as renditions from Wylde's solo album Book of Shadows and from his Pride & Glory southern rock project.

Black Label Society released the double-CD album Unblackened in September. The relatively mellow collection -- for heavy-metal mainstays -- comes at the same time as Wylde decided to forgo alcohol after doctors discovered blood clots in his leg, the press release said.

"The doc told me if I kept this up, I'd be dead by the time I was 50," Wylde, 46, is quoted as saying. "So I stopped drinking. No big deal."
