IT'S a solo venture featuring acoustic music in relatively intimate settings, but Chris Cornell won't completely ignore his history as frontman for grunge legends Soundgarden when he brings his Songbook tour to Winnipeg Oct. 29.

The show at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre will feature an overview of his career, including songs from his 2011 solo album Songbook and acoustic versions of tunes from Soundgarden's 2012 reunion, King Animal.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday for $30.50 to $66, plus taxes and fees, at Ticketmaster.

American/Sri Lankan folk artist Bhi Bhiman will open the show.
