Eddie Vedder in jam over song lyrics

PEARL Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is being sued by Canadian musician Gordon Peterson for altering one of his songs.

Vedder recorded the song Hard Sun for the soundtrack to the 2007 film Into the Wild, directed by Sean Penn.

In a Manhattan federal-court lawsuit, Peterson alleges "Vedder altered certain key lyrics of Hard Sun... eroding the integrity of the composition," reports the New York Post.

Peterson, who goes by the stage name Indio, is also taking issue with Universal Music for granting permission to use his 2007 song without his approval.

"We don't see any basis for a copyright infringement claim," Vedder's lawyer, Gregory Clarick, said in a statement.
