Musical history tour set to roll, and rock
HEY bus rider, it's time to roll up for the Magical Musical History Tour.
Local company Heartland International Travel & Tours is celebrating Winnipeg's musical past with a three-hour bus tour focusing on the history of the city's music scene.
The tour is hosted by music historian and author John Einarson. The trip includes stops at the current and former locations of famous music venues and community clubs, a visit to the childhood homes of musicians such as Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings and Neil Young and a look at some famous murals.
Along the way Einarson tells stories about the musicians and the locations and visitors can check out some of the music and historical photos on a DVD.
The tour is a finalist in the Manitoba Tourism Awards 2012 Product Development category.
The Magical Musical History Tour runs Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. from June 28 to Aug. 30 and Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. from Sept. 8-29. Participants meet in front of the Travel Manitoba Explore Centre at The Forks.
Tickets are $39 plus tax at heartlandtravel.ca and 989-9630.
