LOS ANGELES -- On the very day Katy Perry released a new album, she got blasted by health groups.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest and related groups took out an ad in Variety magazine Tuesday to issue an open letter to Perry asking her not to market Pepsi to kids because it contributes to obesity. The groups say Perry has promoted Pepsi in connection with her films and music, which appeal to young people.
Perry's representative could not be reached for comment. A Pepsi spokeswoman said Pepsi doesn't directly market to kids under the age of 12. Perry's new album, Prism, hit store shelves Tuesday.
