Joe Walsh

Analog Man (Universal)

AS Joe Walsh sings on the track Lucky That Way on his new solo album Analog Man, "I'm not saying that I'm something special, but you might know my name to some degree." Most people do know Joe Walsh for his 1972 radio smash Rocky Mountain Way or maybe even his work with The James Gang (Funk #49, Walk Away) but it has been as a member of the Eagles that our man Joe has made his most noteworthy contributions.

Analog Man is a charmer, in no small part due to Walsh's self-effacing lyrics and easygoing songwriting style. He comes from the riff-rock school where melody is everything and a sharp hook -- whether it's on guitar or sing-along chorus -- has to function perfectly or the song falls flat. Wrecking Ball, Lucky That Way, Hi-Roller Baby and One Day At a Time are all full-on earworms that you may be singing all summer long.

Walsh's signature tone and his excellent slide-guitar style are as beefy as ever, and even though he still has to hang around with Don Henley and Glen Frey to maintain the pool and palm tree, life has been good to him so far. HHHH
