Post-humous single by Jacksoul's Haydain Neale released called 'Got to Have It'

TORONTO - Nearly five years after Haydain Neale's death, a new song from the Jacksoul frontman has been released.

"Got to Have It" is culled from the band's forthcoming greatest hits record.

The album will feature several previously unreleased tunes drawn from Neale's demo archives.

The Hamilton native wrote and recorded "Got to Have It" in summer 2007.

The three-time Juno Award-winning band issued its last album, "Soulmate," in December 2009, weeks after Neale died of lung cancer at age 39.

Ron Lopata — Jacksoul keyboardist and the co-writer of "Got to Have It" — says Neale would have been "super proud" of the song.

"Even though the guts of this track were written seven years ago, it's NOW that it feels so perfectly pertinent," he said in a statement. "Vibe-wise, musically, and with its quirky lyrics ... it's almost as if Nile Rogers and Pharrell got together and co-wrote it with Haydain."
