The prolific North Carolina-born singer/songwriter rose to prominence as a solo artist in the early 2000s, after parting ways with his alt-country act Whiskeytown. No longer hemmed in by genre, Adams has proved -- over the course of 13 albums -- to be as agile as he is productive, drawing from a diverse palette of influences. His 2004 cover of Oasis' Wonderwall put him firmly in the mainstream consciousness, netting him a Grammy nomination and a place on teenage mix CDs for years to come.
Adams' 14th studio album and first since 2011's Ashes & Fire will be released Sept. 9 on PaxAm Records.
