The Roots returning to June's jazz festival

HIP-HOP greats The Roots are the first announced act for the 2013 TD International Jazz Festival, which runs June 13-22.

The band, which performed at the 2010 festival, will return Saturday, June 22, 7:30 p.m., Centennial Concert Hall; tickets: $59.50, $69.50 & $75.50 (plus agency fees) and go on sale Thursday, March 7, at 10 a.m. at jazzwinnipeg.com, 204-989-4656, or from the Jazz Winnipeg office (007-100 Arthur St.) and Ticketmaster.

And singer Holly Cole will perform here April 26 to promote her new recording, Night, Jazz Winnipeg also announced.

Tickets for Cole's 8 p.m. concert at the Burton Cummings Theatre are $36 (plus agency fees) and go on sale Thursday, March 7, at 10 a.m. at jazzwinnipeg.com, 204-989-4656, or from the Jazz Winnipeg office (007-100 Arthur St.) and Ticketmaster.
