The Weeknd, the Bad Plus, Adam Cohen coming in fall

A roster of concert announcements should take some of the sting out of summer's end.

Toronto R&B star the Weeknd, trippy jazz outfit the Bad Plus, Quebec's The Lost Fingers and singer-songwriter Adam Cohen will all be taking their talents to Winnipeg stages this fall.

First up: the Weeknd, otherwise known as Abel Tesfaye, who became a sensation after releasing tunes on YouTube in 2010. He will roll into the Burton Cummings Theatre on Sept. 24. Tickets are $29.50 and $38.50 plus taxes, and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday from Livenation.com.

On Oct. 4, Jazz Winnipeg is bringing in progressive piano trio the Bad Plus to the West End Cultural Centre to jazz up its fall concert session. Tickets are $25 and go on sale at 11 a.m. on Friday at JazzWinnipeg.com, over the phone at 989-4656, or at the Jazz Winnipeg or West End Cultural Centre offices.

Quebec's The Lost Fingers play the Park Theatre Thursday, Nov. 1.  Tickets are $25 in advance, and are also on sale at at JazzWinnipeg.com, by phone at 204-989-4656, at the Jazz Winnipeg office, or at the Park Theatre.

Finally, after earning raves at the Winnipeg Folk Festival this year, Montreal's Cohen -- yes, he's Leonard Cohen's son -- will roll into the WECC Centre on Oct. 23.

Tickets for that gig are $30 plus taxes, and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at Ticketmaster.ca and all Ticketmaster locations, Unionevents.com and Music Trader.
