Design Festival Walks

The Central Park neighbourhood features a large cross section of cultural backgrounds, acting as an initial home for many new immigrants into Canada the area welcomed a large private/public investment into the creation of a World's Best Neighbourhood Park, or, Best World's Neighbourhood Park. Through a lengthy public consultation process a complete revitalization of the Park was begun to reflect the recreation needs of the community. A fully accessible spray park integrated into the new park pavilion lies as the backdrop to a fully restored historic Waddell Fountain which overlooks the brand new sunken artificial turf field for soccer. At the south end of the park a new accessible slide hill for winter and summer provides spectacular hilltop view of the downtown beyond and back into Central Park. Led by Bob Somers, Landscape Architect / Principal from Scatliff+Miller+Murray; Cohlmeyer Architects and David Penner Architect
