The Dangers of Hog Expansion Moratorium

Join the Frontier Centre for Public Policy as we present Harry Siemens who will discuss the hog industry in Manitoba. This industry generates 1.2 billion dollars annually making it this province’s leading agricultural industry. Yet, the Manitoba legislature, with all-party unanimous support recently passed legislation banning all new hog barns and expansions in every corner of Manitoba, no matter how small the farm. This speech will focus on the effects on the family farm producers and local businesses and whether the moratorium will jeopardize jobs and restrict growth in the province. If government can stop expansion in one farming sector, what's to say it doesn't do it to another? Cost: $20.00. Registration must be received on or before September 21st to hold seats. Substitutions are allowed. Sorry, no refunds. To register, visit us at www.fcpp.org, or by e-mail at registrations@fcpp.org, or by phone: 877-219-0033 ext. 4 or 204-977-5051 or Fax 204-957-1570
