DOWNTOWN UNDERGROUND

UMFM 101.5 fm, CKUW 95.9 fm and BE: CULTURED presents "DOWNTOWN UNDERGROUND" In support of Call*Response Winnipeg’s cultural community unites to present a unique exhibition in support of Call*Response and Kids Help Phone. Please join us at Absurd Machine Studios on Thursday, December 1st and Friday, December 2nd to indulge in new artwork from local photographers, painters and mixed-media artists, plus live painting, live music, delicious food and beverages. Downtown Underground marks the official call for submissions for Volume Two of Call*Response. Call*Response is a book inspired by youth and Winnipeg’s live music scene as told by thirty-six local photographers, visual artists, writers, lyricists and fans. The goal of this project is to raise $10,000 for and create awareness of Kids Help Phone – Canada’s only anonymous and confidential phone and on-line professional counseling service for youth. A minimum of $10 from the purchase of Call*Response goes to support Kids Help Phone. On November 24, 2011 a $5,000 cheque will be presented by the editors of Call*Response to Kids Help Phone’s Man/Sask Regional Director, Cindy Kobayashi at Into the Music, the presentation will happen at approxiamately 1:00 pm. Please join us on Thursday, December 1st and Friday, December 2nd to celebrate Winnipeg’s cultural community, the success of Call*Response, and to scheme about Call*Response: Volume Two.
