Victor Jara : the Right to Live in Peace

The film focuses on the life and art of Victor Jara, the revered Chilean singer-songwriter, theatre director, folklorist and political activist. His prominence led to his detention, torture and assassination days after the coup. With historical footage and interviews, the film tells the dramatic story of Jara's rise to international fame as a folk singer. The film is presented by Chile 40 Winnipeg and Mayworks as the kick-off for the Winnipeg events marking the 40th anniversary of the coup.
