Vacant Circumstances: this and something else

This is an investigation into the transformative and syncretic relationship between domestic electrical appliances and their ‘fixed’ infrastructures – extension cords, plugs, switches, fixtures, and sockets, etc. By reconstructing, exceeding and wrapping these machines, Nam explores and questions the dynamic juxtaposition between reproduction and abstraction, consumption and waste, and the potential risk associated with the sculptures’ electrical tension.
