Central-Epicure Smoked Atlantic Salmon recalled due to Listeria scare

OTTAWA - Central-Epicure brand Smoked Atlantic Salmon has been recalled because it may be contaminated with Listeria bacteria.

The affected product was sold in Ontario and Quebec in 100 gram packages with a best before date of Mar. 26 (UPC 0 61279 21200 6).

Food contaminated with Listeriacan cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.

Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.

There have been no reports of illness linked to the salmon, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the recall.
