SOCIAL DJ apps have always had a strange place in the Internet's heart. Turntable.fm was beloved while it was around, but plug.dj never fully succeeded it in popularity. Still, Qcast aims to bring that excellent idea -- group music parties -- to your TV via a Chromecast device.
The free app streams your music from a Play Music subscription to your television. Anyone with an Android phone and a Play Music library can jump in and add songs to the playlist. Listeners can vote to determine whether a song continues or is skipped.
The app is still somewhat limited in that in addition to a Chromecast device, you need party guests who all have the app installed and music in Google Play (sorry, Spotify, Rdio and iTunes users). For those who qualify, it's a great way to liven up a party.
Available at the Google Play Store via Android Police.
