Dear Mike,

I have this old five-gallon Ice Water Crock. I bought it many years ago at a farm auction.

I have always been curious why it says "Christies" on it. Could it have been used in the Christies cookie factory?

It is in perfect condition. Please let me if you can shed any light on it.

Walt C., Winnipeg

Dear Walt,

Your crock is an ice water crock that was used in schools and businesses.

It is the equivalent of the modern-day water cooler.

These crocks were made by Medalta Potteries in Medicine Hat, Alta., for the Christies school supply company.

The writing adds a great value to this crock.

In perfect condition it would sell for $300 to $350.
