Don't share intimate details with your jealous sister again

  • Print

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: Halloween is the time of year I love the most. I always decorate the bedroom like a sexy witch's lair and my husband gets a kick out of each thing I add. This time I have a cauldron for the corner that's reflected in a bunch of mirrors. Multiple fun! My single sister came over this morning, took a deep breath, and asked what I was doing this Halloween. I was telling her all my plans when she interrupted, saying, "Sounds like Grade 5, Page 2 to me." I told her to go home if she's going to prick my balloon, and she said, "Boy, aren't you touchy!" What is her problem? Why did she shoot me down like that? I was just sharing. -- Hurt Sis, East Kildonan

Dear Hurt Sis: If and when she has a fun man in her life, she may decorate and entertain him. Or, she may be too shy, or too lazy. Either way, she doesn't want to hear about your hot plans. She's clearly jealous. So learn from this: Never share anything else with her along this line again. People who celebrate holidays in a fun way with their lovers are best to keep quiet about it for two reasons: 1) Most people don't put out much effort, and it makes them question their own lacklustre relationships; 2) It advertises your sexy mate as a guy worth getting to know intimately. Call me suspicious, but great sex with a great guy should always be kept a secret.

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: This man I have been "seeing" hardly talks to me when he passes by me, and he sees me five days a week. OK, he's my executive assistant. We have had a quite a few Friday-night liaisons at his place after the usual happy-hour get-togethers, yet he acts so casual afterwards. It's like nothing has happened. I don't have a clue what he thinks of me as a woman. I thought I was kind of falling for him as he is an up-and-coming "star" here at our big office -- very funny, efficient and nice. Unfortunately, another woman in the office is now talking about him as if she's familiar with his apartment, and I'm wondering if he has been seeing her at the same time! Am I down the list now? I waste so much time obsessing over him. How do I ask him, without looking like I'm sexually harassing him? I can't do anything! -- Hands Tied? Broadway

Dear Tied: You are sexually harassing this man just by having sex with him, and it's illegal. He might feel he'd lose his job if he pushed you away. Be glad he's pointing himself in another direction now. Let him drift off as if nothing ever happened between you, and don't take it out on him at work. You are the one in a dangerous position if this comes out. Exercise some maturity and self-control, however belatedly. If this other woman is gossiping about being with him where you can hear about it, he has probably not told on you yet.
