Hey there, time traveller!

It's officially fall, and for me that means flipping my clothing and shoe closets, peppering my wardrobe with a few new transitional pieces (I simply can't resist a new fall sweater and pair of shoes) and reluctantly getting back into a solid workout routine after lounging patio-side during a very short summer.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes routine is great -- like when it comes to fitness -- but like many people, it does take a bit to get motivated again and, of course, this fitness-loving fashionista can think of no better way to refocus on fitness than with some new workout gear.
This season's line of men's and women's Mondetta Performance Gear, MPG, is fun, functional, fashionable and a fabulous and local alternative to that big-name Canadian brand from the West Coast, Lululemon.
The women's collection is separated into three distinct "capsules," the Black Series, your standard active wear but with a more feminine cut, the Opulence capsule, stylized workout gear that incorporates printed textiles and detailing, and the Fusion capsule, a more relaxed lifestyles line ideal for post-workout smoothies at your favourite juice bar.
Among my favourites are the Bliss tank and Sienna shorts for sweating it out on the TRX, and for stretching it out in the warm studio the Maneuver top and Simha Capri Tight for hot yoga. I also really like the Opulent pullover -- a fabulous alternative to the hoodie to throw over your active wear post-workout.
The men's collection -- while not as fashionably diverse as the women's, lucky us -- offers a functional yet fashionable alternative to the typical sweat short and tee.
Think slim-line pants and shorts that are form-flattering rather than sloppy and frumpy, tops that are contouring rather than loose and baggy and hoodies that actually fit. I particularly like the Frame top with its colour-block detailing paired up with the Arcane slim-fit pant -- it's the ideal workout wear for any stylish urbanite with a focus on fitness.
MPG apparel is available in Winnipeg at MEC, Village Streetwear, The Running Room on Grant Avenue and at Turk's Pro Shop. You can also purchase MPG online at www.mpgsport.com.
