Trustees want 2 more studies of 2010 Michigan pipeline spill; Enbridge

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Detroit Free Press reports that Calgary-based Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB) has been asked to pay US$800,000 to complete two new studies to assess damage from a 2010 pipeline spill into a Michigan river.

The paper (http://on.freep.com/XEnRUh ) reported Monday that trustees of the National Resource Damage Assessment want Enbridge Inc. to participate in studies of vegetation and recreational use in the area affected by the spill.

The report says Enbridge notified trustees in June and October that it was declining to co-operate because adequate data had already been collected.

The company said in a statement to the paper, dated Feb. 22, that it continues to collaborate on assessments and expects to meet with trustees about the issue.

The spill of more than 800,000 gallons of oil involved an Enbridge pipeline that runs from Griffith, Ind., to Sarnia, Ont.
