Manitoba's provincial speedskating coach.
Accomplishments: Eldering moved from the Netherlands to Winnipeg in the fall of 2012 to lead Manitoba's provincial speedskating program on a four-year contract. Speedskating to the Dutch is like hockey to Canadians, but bigger. Eldering made a living as a professional speedskater for five years (2002-07). After returning to university for to earn a degree in communications from the University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden, Eldering began coaching speedskating at the national level.
Holland's loss is Manitoba's gain as Eldering has ties to the Dutch team that dominated the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. A former teammate of some of them, Eldering was also coached by Kosta Poltavets, now the Russian national long track coach.
As a coach for four years in Heerenveen, the world capital of speedskating, he developed a warm-up program that is still used in training for national coaches.
"The plan is to bring our Manitoba team to the 2015 Canada Winter Games, all prepared, and that's one year from now," Eldering said. "That is the big goal and after that, we'll see what we've done with the team and how we can improve."

2. Favourite workout song?
Sail by Awolnation is good way to get pumped for a race or heavy workout. I also like the Killers, or their frontman Brandon Flowers' solo.
3. Fitness tip?
Put your running shoes on, step outside and close the door. That's half your workout. As long as you are getting out. And squatting. Squatting will help your body perform better in real life activities. Squats! Bend your knees, listen to Daft Punk and repeat!
4. What's in your fridge?
My fridge contains vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and avocados. Yogurt for the morning with blueberries. Cream for the extreme amount of coffee I drink and one bottle of Coca-Cola for the month.
5. What's your guilty pleasure?
It would be white macadamia nut cookies from Tim Hortons or Starbucks.
