REGINA - Hospitals in the Regina area are so crowded officials are postponing elective surgeries for the next two weeks.
The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region says the move will allow staff to focus on trauma and emergency patients, as well as other people already in hospitals.
Officials say on Friday Regina General Hospital was operating at 111 per cent capacity.
Pasqua hospital was operating at 114 per cent capacity.
Officials say staff will also work to reduce the number of patients in the hospitals over the next two weeks.
John Ash, director of patient flow, says there is no one reason for the overcrowding.
