Hospital in Moncton, N.B., to open breast health centre in the fall

  • Print

MONCTON, N.B. - New Brunswick's Health Department says a Moncton hospital will open a breast health centre this fall and construction of a surgical suite will start next year.

Construction of the $10.5-million breast health centre at Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital began last fall and it is expected to open in October.

Work for the surgical suite, a project estimated to cost $104 million, is expected to get underway next spring.

Health Minister Hugh Flemming says that project will address surgical space shortages at the hospital.

The project includes $14 million in new equipment for the addition.

The 9,900-square-metre surgical facility requires building an extension on the north side of the hospital.
