Mom, Canadian fiddle player, teacher, performer, music writer, blogger who is "On a Quest to Good Health"
Accomplishments: An award-winning fiddle player who is a member of the Manitoba Fiddle Association Hall of Fame, Lamoureux is known in the fiddle community as "one the smoothest fiddle players in North America." The gifted musician, who had battled weight and food issues for 30 years, recently gave herself a full-body, whole-world makeover. Her eating habits, exercise and especially how she tackles every day, it's all been reconstructed. She had gastric sleeve surgery last Jan. 16 and has been winning at the weight-loss game. She has lost 104 pounds so far and is two-thirds to her goal weight of 150 pounds. I love being in the water, so deep and shallow water aquafit as well as deep-water running are my favourites. My best workout though, is with my trainer Jordan (Cieciwa) at Snap Fitness. I never thought I'd enjoy exercising at the gym, but I find I crave it now. I do my workouts with him at 8 a.m., so when I'm driving home dripping sweat by 9:15 a.m. I'm feeling pretty smug that I've already done my exercise for the day.
Favourite workout song?
I'm a fiddle player so I usually listen to tunes that I'm in the process of learning. I also have a playlist on my iPod called "OMGILOVETHISSONG!" that has everything from Procol Harem's Conquistador to classic country music to sappy '80s love ballads.
Jordan writes a blog for the Huffington Post and one of them was about finding activities that you love to do and that are fun. If you don't like riding a stationary bike, don't ride a stationary bike!
What's in your fridge?
Fresh berries and Greek yogurt, cooked chicken breast and veggies.
What's your guilty pleasure?
Spicy peanut noodle soup from Ken's Restaurant and knitting while watching Netflix.
