Health officials let celebrity chef's restaurant reopen in English village
LONDON - Health officials say a top English restaurant that closed after hundreds of customers fell ill can reopen.
Britain's Health Protection Agency says it still hasn't determined what caused the outbreak of diarrhea and vomiting linked to The Fat Duck. But it said Wednesday that preliminary findings suggest it is safe to reopen the Michelin-starred establishment.
The Fat Duck closed Feb. 24 after dozens of patrons reported becoming sick after eating there. Media coverage of the mysterious illness drew hundreds more complaints.
The restaurant, in the village of Bray, is run by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal. He's known for elaborate culinary concoctions such as snail porridge and bacon-and-egg ice cream.
