There is no denying that most of us love to look lovely on the outside. We spend hours primping and priming, ensuring our hair and makeup are flawless and that we have the most fabulous shoes, accessories and garments to flatter our form.
But when it comes to what is under that fabulousness -- sometimes it's easy to fall a little flat on the fashion side.
Don't get me wrong, every woman needs a basic nude undergarment set (and maybe a pair of Spanx or two). I do believe in practicality, but we also deserve to treat ourselves to a little something special for our eyes only.
I don't know how many conversations I have had with my gal pals about finally splurging on a "real bra" or treating ourselves to a pretty slip -- and when we do it feel so great, even almost a bit special.
Two Winnipeg entrepreneurs are hoping to change our purchasing habits when it comes to lacy underthings with their new little boutique Gravity Lingerie.
"Our plan is to bring new exciting and sexy lingerie to our city," said co-owner Judy Cheetham. "Sherry (Valentin) and I have both worked in lingerie stores in the city and absolutely love the industry. It was really a no-brainer that by combining our different talents we could create an environment that we are proud of and that our clients would feel comfortable shopping in."
The boutique, which just opened its doors the other day, specializes in luxurious silk, lace and satin garments from Europe -- brand such as Prima Donna, Marie Jo, Marie Jo L'Aventure, Twist, Chantelle, and Dominique.
"We are also excited to carry a new line of silks by Julianna Rae which are absolutely gorgeous, and for the men in your family we have MyPakage underwear, Happy Socks and Arthur George Socks," said Cheetham.
The notion that it need to be a special occasion or a rare treat to splurge on something personal needs to go the way of the dodo. As the ladies at Gravity Lingerie put it, "every woman is unique and beautiful and deserves a perfect fit."
