Hey there, time traveller!

I find that when it comes to fashion, Winnipeggers tend to complain a lot about not being able to find anything good in the city.
Sure, we don't have some of the big-name retail brands in the city like H&M, Topshop or Zara, and there isn't a whole lot in the luxury-brand realm to choose from either (fingers crossed that one day we get a Gucci and a Louis) -- but the 'Peg isn't totally void of fashion.
There are several fabulous boutiques to shop at throughout the city and many of them carry some great brands exclusive to the store -- names you would find in some of the trendy shops on Commercial Drive in Vancouver or in the Queen West/Ossington area of Toronto.
We are also lucky enough to be a Prairie pit stop for trunk shows like the one next week featuring Karamel Collection. This European brand is making its debut in Canada this spring and we are being graced with a showing of this fabulous line of tops and blouses.
Designed using Italian lace, cashmere and silk, these flowy tops are beautiful and feminine yet still trendy and stylish, making them perfect for wearing out with a pair of jeans on the weekend or with a pencil skirt and T-strap heels to the office. And because the tops are flowy and unstructured, they look great on a wide variety of body types.
I also really love the asymmetrical cut to the hem of the tops making them the ideal length -- a little shorter in the front but still with a bit of length in the back -- to wear with leggings for a more casual look.
Trunk shows don't come to the city that often -- so if you are itching to check out something new I would highly recommend checking out the Spring Fling Karamel Collection fashion show, which hits the runway on May 1, at 7 p.m. at the Manitoba Hydro building at 360 Portage Ave.
Tickets for the show are available at http://springflingfashionshow.eventbrite.ca or you can check out Karamel Collection online at www.karamelcollectioncanada.com.
