Ella

Ella is a 5 1/2-year-old, gentle, loving and extremely intelligent Winnipeg Humane Society rescue dog. She is enjoying an early morning on her favourite dock at Lake of the Woods. A kayak or canoe does not leave the property unless Ella is aboard. Paddling aside, she is a terrific passenger.

Ten

The reason we named him Ten is because he was adopted on the 19th (1 + 9 10) AND he is a perfect 10. Ten is a loyal dog, and I'm sure like most pups, he comes running to the door every time you come in and never holds a grudge. At two years of age, he is a brilliant pooch and may possibly have more love in his heart than anyone human or animal I know. Ten's favourite pastimes include relaxing in the park with his "girls," going for a W-A-L-K and doing his "criss-cross" position, as shown in the picture.

Bella

Bella absolutely loves the Winnipeg Free Press! It takes me a long time to finish the paper, unless I give her some treats to distract her. My daughter Charlie and I have had Bella since November. Her previous owner said she was 12 years old, but our vet confirmed she is only between six and eight years old. She's a very petite, gentle cat; most visitors say she looks like an eight-month-old kitten. Bella has bonded completely with Charlie -- the only time she pays any attention to me is when I'm reading the paper!
