Foodbeast
óè foodbeast.com
From making the perfect cup of tea to the latest in fast-food trends to a sneak peek at some Super Bowl treats, Foodbeast offers up a healthy portion of food-related news, recipes and everything you could want to know about food culture. Just try and stay out of the food truck section; it can be depressing. Winnipeg is still way behind in this area.
Done Not Done
óè donenotdone.com
To-do lists can be great, but they are an endless reminder of what you have to do. What about a list of what you want to see and do? Done Not Done is a centralized list for entertainment, books, movies and restaurants you want to check out. A movie a friend recommended over dinner? Add it to Done Not Done and you'll have a reminder the next time you are wondering what to watch. Never forget the name of a book, movie, TV show or restaurant again. Available for iOS devices and through the web.
Free Book Sifter
óè freebooksifter.com
Looking to build up your e-library without shelling out a ton of cash? Freebooksifter.com is a new online tool to help you connect to free books being offered on Amazon.com. From the same people who created Last Minute Auction ("an hour or less, a buck or less on eBay"), this new online tool "makes it easy to peruse all the free books available for your Kindle or eReader." Because some books are offered for a very limited time, be sure and check the Added Today section, that's where you'll find the real treasures.
Video of the Week: David Bowie, Where Are We Now?
óè http://bit.ly/David_Bowie_2013
On his 66th birthday last week, David Bowie released his first song and video in a decade. Directed by visual artist Tony Oursler, the slow burning, Where Are We Now?, is the followup to 2003's Reality. Set for release March 12th, The Next Day is Bowie's 27th studio album. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's hits include Let's Dance, Fame, China Girl and Changes.
Track of the Week -- Justin Timberlake,
Suit & Tie (featuring Jay-Z)
óè justintimberlake.com
With a quick teaser video sending the web into a tailspin last week, Justin Timberlake jumped back into the musical spotlight, after a nearly seven-year absence. The former 'N Sync singer wasn't going to waste any time and dropped a new Timbaland-produced cut with the reigning king of hip hop stopping by for a quick verse. You get the impression that Jay-Z recorded his verse between business meetings and shopping for baby clothes, he never feels totally committed to the beat. Reaction to Suit & Tie has been mixed, with Timberlake supporters hailing his return to the mic, while critics not impressed with the lukewarm R 'n' B vibe. "The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn't expect anything out of it," he wrote. "I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I've had in my career... What I came up with is something I couldn't be more excited about! It is full of inspiration that I grew up listening to and some new found muses that I've discovered along the way." Check out justintimberlake.com or you'll have to fire up your old MySpace account or create a new one if you want access to Timberlake's new track. In a shrewd marketing move, the MySpace shareholder is using his comeback to drive some traffic to the social networking ghost town.
