I have been on Facebook for a long, long time and have accumulated just over 2,000 friends.
If a person sent a friend request and we had more than 10 mutual friends, I would always accept the request. Why not meet new people, right?
Bad decision. Bad, bad decision. Now I have all these friends and my feed is so cluttered with information from the people I do not know/like, updates from my real friends are lost in the abyss.
But I don't want to delete these people as friends, because that's just rude. I assume that a lot of you are in this circumstance? Well here are some steps you can take to get rid of people's boring, stupid information in your timeline without being a jerk.
First of all, let's say a person has been non-stop posting cat memes and they just posted a cat dressed up as Darth Vader and this is the last straw for you. Click the arrow at the top of the post and "hide" it. This will hide that specific post from your timeline forever.
The next thing you can do if you're bored on a Sunday afternoon is organize your news feed. Facebook puts you through a simple process that shows the people you haven't interacted with in a while and allows you to pick and choose content you'd like to see. You can set people as acquaintances, best friends etc. We all have that really annoying friend on Facebook who's like "starting my workout!!" Then, "look at my pump I just got from my really amazing workout (insert small muscled photo here)!!" Tailor your updates from those people! Go to their profile and edit whether you want to see statuses, photos, relationship updates, life events etc. You can pick and choose what you want to see!
Another thing you can do is create restricted lists for what people can see of you. If your mother forced you to become her friend on Facebook, don't delete her; simply restrict the content she can see from you.
Here's one last unfriending alternative. Say you are going to post something that you do not want a specific person seeing because this will cause drama. Simply edit your post and add in her name as "restricted" and she will not be able to see your post. These are all good alternatives that hopefully help you have a more enjoyable Facebook experience.
Nikon P7700 review
BY no means am I a camera expert -- I owned a decent DSLR and didn't even know what aperture was. The first DSLR I bought was a Canon 60D; I used it to take photos and to capture high-quality videos for my YouTube channel. It worked really well for what I used it for. After a while, however, it became a pain to carry around and if I ever wanted someone else to take a photo, I'd be forced to give him or her a brief lesson beforehand.
I decided this camera was too much and I needed to downgrade. I sold the 60D on Kijiji for $800 and went over to my local camera store to buy a high-quality point-and-shoot. I walked out of the store with a Nikon P7700. It cost me about $500 after taxes. I absolutely adore this camera. It's super easy to use, and when I want other people to take a photo it's no problem because they can figure it out quite easily. Did I mention it takes awesome photos and captures great video? Well yeah, it does. I also really enjoy how the camera has a hard body and does not feel cheap like many of the other point-and-shoot cameras. The P7700 basically looks and feels like a DSLR without the huge body and millions of features. The battery life is tremendous and so far, after a few months using it on a day-to-day basis, I haven't experienced a single issue.
For those out there who are confused by a DSLR but are looking for something a little better than a point-and-shoot, I would definitely recommend you take a look at this camera. I could almost describe the PP7700 as a hybrid between point-and-shoot and full-blown DSLR.
