TankBot

When you get tired of playing games on your iPhone, you can turn it into a controller to operate a micro robot. The TankBot (which also works with the iPod touch and iPad), comes in three modes with navigation controlled by your Apple device. The device has a built-in USB charger, so unlike other remote-control toys, you don't need to keep buying new batteries. It also makes use of Apple's accelerometer technology -- when you tilt you device forward, the TankBot rolls forward, angle to the right and the TankBot turns right. Not just another cute toy, this little robot can navigate mazes on its own, avoid obstacles and interact with users' hand motions. The orange, blue, black and green TankBots operate on their own frequencies, so you can hold races and battle with other TankBots. It launches at the New York toy fair this month, but won't go on sale until June; www.mydeskpets.com, under $20.

Galet

You might be wondering why you'd want to spend $130 on a four-gigabyte USB key. Me too. But for those who find style more important than budgetary concerns, there's the hand-crafted, silver-plated Galet. LaCie has linked up with the French luxury brand Christofle to turn the utilitarian USB key into a thing of beauty. It will sell at Christofle boutiques worldwide and in the LaCie online store at www.lacie.com; $130.

InCharge Mobile

A dual-duty rechargeable battery pack, the InCharge Mobile provides a protective case for your iPhone 4 and charges at 2300 mAh, the equivalent of a full charge. Its integrated stand lets you set up your iPhone for landscape viewing or FaceTime chats and it comes with a micro USB cable for charging and syncing. www.xtrememac.com; $80.

iSkin

iSkin has just released its new line of bags, sleeves and other coverings for tablet and notebook computers. It's a colourful and eclectic bunch that includes everything from slim leather folios to a puffy camera pouch that looks like you're wrapping your camera up in its own down jacket. The line has 16 carriers in total, from the smallest pouches to backpacks and travel bags, at various prices; www.iskin.com/qwest.
