Grantland's New YouTube Channel

SPORTS and pop-culture destination Grantland.com has carved out its own niche with extensive weekly recaps of the hot TV shows, in-depth discussions on all the big moments in sports and reality TV, and a growing list of must-hear podcasts from founder Bill Simmons (BS Report), former NBA star Jalen Rose, and TV writers Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan (Hollywood Prospectus).

While Simmons didn't make video a priority on Grantland when it launched, he has decided to develop a YouTube video channel for the site after being online for a year. Some of the videos that have been uploaded to Grantland's fledgling YouTube page include: Simmons' interview with Jimmy Kimmel; the "Animated Archive" series, featuring The Chappelle Show co-creator Neal Brennan's tale of an evening he, Dave Chappelle and Questlove of The Roots spent in Prince's hotel room; and new host of The Numbers Never Lie on ESPN/TSN2, Jalen Rose, on Kobe Bryant and karma.

Considering Simmons' background in producing ESPN's fantastic 30 for 30 series, it is surprising they didn't include this YouTube channel right when the site launched a year ago.

While there are still some articles on Grantland that are as boring as their titles suggest, for the most part, Simmons and his team have done a great job of making the one-year-old site more than just a content factory of stuff ESPN doesn't want to cover.

The Splendid Table

IF you haven't got on the podcast bandwagon (short digital audio segments you can stream on your computer or download to an MP3-enabled device), then it might be time to take a look. Good starting places can be podcasts about food and an obvious introduction could be the Splendid Table.

A "show for people who love to eat," it balances introducing new recipes and techniques with talking about food and cooking in interesting ways. From making homemade cheese to simple chicken dinners, The Splendid Table is a great podcast for aspiring chefs or wannabe foodies.

Instructables

RESOURCES for the do-it-yourself community have really grown over the years. From gardening to technology, with YouTube and sites like the Instructables it has become a lot easier to get some of the background info you need and tips to succeed for your next hands-on project.

Everything from Halloween gift bags to canning salsa to customizing your outdoor furniture is covered on this handy and helpful site.

Devour

EVERYONE knows that you can lose a few hours of your life in the black hole that YouTube has become. If it isn't hours spent surfing through videos, it's the idiocy displayed in the comments section that sucks you in.

No more, though. Now you have Devour, a more effective and efficient way to watch the hottest trending videos on the site. Usually in high definition, Devour is a simple interface that makes consuming endless streams of short videos even easier than you had first imagined.
