There Really Is A Dating Site For Everyone

No date for Valentine's Day? No big deal: Winnipeg was recently named the most unromantic city in the country anyway. Instead of getting depressed because you don't have a significant other for whom to buy an overpriced dinner, flowers and chocolates, you could move your search for a partner online. Most people know about Match, eHarmony and the hookup-focused Plenty of Fish, but what about some of the more specific dating sites? This tongue-in-cheek list should be a good place to start.

Over the past few weeks, a number of friends have had close calls with scams on both Kijiji and Craigslist. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. While buying and selling stuff is nothing new, what should you be looking out for when you head online for goods or services? Mashable breaks down five easy ways to spot a scam.

How do you know when a video is a meme and not just another random YouTube clip? When everyone from Jimmy Fallon to College Humor to Winnipeg's Ace Burpee Show has done their own version of it. Although American electronic producer Baauer was in the underground spotlight in 2012 with the speaker-rattling anthem Harlem Shake, it wasn't until a fan-made video of four latex-clad people dancing to the song was uploaded to YouTube that the meme was put in motion.

What followed was a variety of crazy, fun and creative Harlem Shake viral videos that have taken the web by storm in just a few days. A version by local 103.1 Virgin Radio's office was picked up by Buzzfeed.com and racked up nearly 50,000 views in two days.

Baauer, a skilled electronic performer, recently played in Winnipeg as part of his Big League tour with Just Blaze.

While New York's Sammy Bananas will be in town on Saturday, Feb. 16, to DJ at the Greenroom, his other project, a collaboration with singer Maggie Horn, has been making waves on the web since the release of their four-song reinterpretation of tracks from the classic Singles soundtrack. The duo even received a positive endorsement from the 1992 film's director, Cameron Crowe, via Twitter.

Expect Bananas' DJ set to be more upbeat, but filled with his custom re-edits, bootlegs and whatever other goodies he has brought along for the party. Tickets are $10 at the door, 108 Osborne St.

A new label and some time off for fatherhood seems to be exactly what singer/songwriter Hayden needed. It's been four years since his last album, but Rainy Sunday captures the Toronto troubadour trading in the type of relatable narratives that have been the bread and butter of his career. Hayden will play the West End Cultural Centre on March 30. Tickets are $25 at the Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store and Ticketmaster.
