When I was a tween -- way, way back in the day -- I couldn't possibly think of a more awesome time of year than back-to-school -- OK, maybe Christmas.
You got to hang out with your girlfriends at lunch, discover new things, gossip about boys, but perhaps best of all -- you got to go back-to-school clothes shopping at the most fabulous place on earth for a tween... the mall.
This fall, tweens are styling it up with a bit of a retro punk-pop sass and flair. We are talking big, bright, bold colours, eye-popping graphics and lavish embellishments -- what more could a girl quite possibly want?
Among this seasons hottest trends is a throwback to the '80s, and Canadian-owned Triple Flip is doing it up right with their back-to-school cool fall collection especially designed and tailored with the tween girl in mind.
One of the most popular items are their graphic leggings, which come in patterns ranging from tribal-themed to animal print to stars and baubles to comic book pop art. What makes them even more '80s-esque are the big hues they come in -- electric blue, hot pink and neon green to name a few.
Another hot item for fall is the Pixel Art Backpack. A fun and funky way to tote around school books -- and more importantly secret notes -- this backpack was a feature at MoMa and Triple Flip just happens to be the first retailer to carry the Pixel Art Backpack in Canada.
What makes the Pixel Art Backpack so much fun is that there are countless ways to make it uniquely one-of-a-kind by creating your own personal masterpiece with the attachable coloured pixels -- it kind of reminds me of Lego.
Also big for fall -- the "Beckett" jacket. This "moto-style" jacket is a sassy addition to any diva rebel's wardrobe. Quilted on the inside with a leatherette exterior shell, the Beckett adds a bit of edginess to a cutesy skirt and legging combo. It also looks fabulously fun with some printed jeggings, ankle boots and a basic tee.
