Gerald Boiteau, Auto HausVolkswagen's general manager, credits the outstanding efforts of his staff for the Pembina Highway's dealership being recognized with Volkswagen Canada's Wolfsburg Award for 2011.
"There are 135 Volkswagen dealers across Canada," Boiteau says. "Just 18 qualified for this award last year and induction into the prestigious Volkswagen Crest Club."
To qualify for the honor, Boiteau notes, a dealership is required to meet objectives in operating standards for vehicle sales (new and pre-owned), parts and service sales, customer experience and staff training.
"I am proud of our staff," Boiteau says. "This award recognizes their efforts in meeting the objectives and taking care of customers."
This is the fifth time that Auto Haus has earned the accolade.

Toyota Canada's version of the Wolfsburg Award is the Pinnacle Award which also recognizes excellence in customer service -- and McPhillips Toyota sales staff scored a trifecta for 2011. "McPhillips Toyota has always been a high ranking dealership in customer satisfaction," says sales manager Rory Egan. "But, for 2011, our sales reps really shone. We earned the top three highest scores."
In each dealer category, Egan explains, Toyota presents awards to the top five performers in sales satisfaction. McPhillips Toyota is ranked in the Category 2 class of Toyota dealers in the Prairies region (which also takes in eastern British Columbia). There are 163 products advisers in the region in that category of dealership. The competition measures sales satisfaction and is based on customer surveys.
"The average score in our category and region is 92 per cent," Egan says. "Oscar Jimenez, who has been with our dealership for three years, had the highest score at 97.9 per cent."
Following close behind were six-year McPhillips Toyota product adviser John Ferguson and Egan himself (who was a star sales rep for four years before being promoting to sales manager earlier this year.) They each recorded scores of 97.1 per cent.
"Our business office also earned a Pinnacle Award and our dealership was ranked first overall in terms of sales satisfaction in our region and category," Egan adds. "Jim ( dealer principal Jim Cornwall) and Darrell (general manager Darrell Cornwall) have always emphasized customer service."

As part of the deal (as reported in the Free Press business page a couple of weeks ago) wherein the Birchwood Auto Group purchased Keystone Ford from the Kozminski Family, Matt Kozminski has become the new general manager at Jaguar Land Rover Volvo Winnipeg. The move reunites both Kozminski and his father Bob (who now has an ownership share in the dealership) with an old flame.
Bob Kozminski operated Jaguar on Sargent in the 1990s. He sold the Jaguar franchise to the Birchwood Group in September 2001. He himself has been a Jaguar owner for many years.
Matt Kozminski says that he is excited to be working with the Chipman Family and the Jaguar dealership. "It's even better having Land Rover and Volvo products as well," he says.
Kozminski grew up in the auto business. He attended the automotive marketing business education program at Georgian College in the early 1990s. He came back home in 1997 and went to work full time at Jaguar on Sargent. After the sale of the Jaguar store in 2001, he joined the management team at the family's flagship Ford store.
