The redesigned 2015 GT-R, Nissan's answer to Ferrari and Lamborghini, has just arrived at Vickar Nissan.

Vickar Nissan GT-R specialist Mehdi Moghareh. said the new model boasts a significant power boost, as well as a new bumper and multi-LED headlights. Inside are heated, leather-appointed front seats that are built for performance.

The new model is powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine which puts out 545-hp compared to 485 hp previously. And just like fabled European models, the GT-R engine is hand-assembled by a single technician in a dust-free, temperature-controlled clean room. Rather than traditional cast-iron liners, each cylinder features a unique plasma coating with an independent intake system for each bank of cylinders.

There have been a lot of fine adjustments to the GT-R's suspension, and the AWD makes the model perfect for winter driving, Moghareh added. "You can drive it all year-round."

Moghareh notes that Nissan has introduced a new colour for the 2015 GT-R line-up -- 18-karat gold. There is one currently available at the dealership.

Starting price for the 2015 GT-R is $113,000. The two models currently in stock at Vickar are both the Premium trim.

"All in all, the GT-R is a great, exotic, luxury supercar," Moghareh said. "There's nothing else like it in its price range. "We will be delivering our first sold model on April 24."

Birchwood Group introducing AutoAlert program

The Birchwood Auto Group has introduced a new customer-service program called AutoAlert that allows drivers to assess their equity position in consultation with a sales consultant at the push of a button and determine whether or not to upgrade their vehicles.

"Using an iPad, we can open your car door, scan the serial number and determine your equity," said Birchwood Honda on Regent general sales manager Joel Smith. "We would be able to tell you right away if we could put you into a newer model, or newer used car, for the same monthly payments that you are currently paying."

Smith said AutoAlert is particularly useful for leasing customers. "We can get you out of your lease early with no difference in payment. We could, for example, move you from a 2013 Accord to a 2014 Accord for the same monthly lease payment."

AutoAlert Inc. started in the U.S. a couple of years ago. The Birchwood Group is in the process of sending out letters to existing and previous customers about the new service. The information is also included in the Auto Group's newsletter.

Management change at Birchwood Honda on Regent

Birchwood Honda on Regent is continuing to bolster its management team. On the new-car side, Patrick Harding was promoted to sales manager last month after five years of outstanding sales on the showroom floor.
