Outlander puts you in control, on and off the road
Arriving at Winnipeg's two Mitsubishi dealers in mid-June, the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander is an all-new design with new and class-leading features.
That includes "the world's most advanced all-wheel control system," said Waverley Mitsubishi president Rino Attardo,
"Not only does this system transfer power to the rear wheels when the front wheels lose traction (and vice-versa), but it also transfers power from side to side with the front wheels," Attardo said. "You are in control when you are both on and off the road."
Among other 2014 Outlander outstanding features are forward collision mitigation (which alerts drivers to potential frontal collisions and can apply the brakes automatically if necessary), lane-departure warning and adaptive cruise control. There's also an optional power tailgate that can be triggered by a simple touch of a switch from the driver's seat, the remote or the tailgate itself, should you be juggling bags or hockey equipment.
The model is available in ES, SE and GT versions. The base model ES and the SE are powered by 2.4L 4-cylinder engines with a continuously variable transmission, producing 166 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 162 ft-lbs. of torque @ 4,200 rpm. The GT has a 3.0L V6 engine with automatic transmission that puts out 224 hp @ 6,250 rpm and 215 ft-lbs.of torque @ 3,750 rpm.
The base ES model sells for just under $28,000 (including freight and pdi).
"We have already sold quite a few of the new Outlanders at both our stores (VIckar Mitsubishi on Regent and the Waverley auto mall store) with very little advertising so far," Attardo said. "We're quite excited about the new model."
New sales managers for GM stores
Both Birchwood Chevrolet Buick GMC and McNaught Buick Cadillac GMC have new sales managers.
Chris Moore, 25, who has taken on the role at McNaught, is a young man who is moving up the corporate ladder very quickly. The University of Manitoba graduate (B.Comm. Finance) started on the sales floor at McNaught (in the Manitoba Auto Mall on Waverley near Bishop Grandin) five years ago, right out of school. He was eventually promoted to business development manager and, at the end of February, to sales manager, replacing Everett Einarson who left for the west coast.
"I love this role and this dealership," Moore said. "The last couple of months have been the best we have ever had here in terms of new car sales."
Aamir Malik was appointed sales manager of Birchwood Chev's truck store three months ago. He started working in sales for the Birchwood Auto group about the same time that Moore joined the McNaught staff. His auto experience has included stints at one of the Birchwood group's Honda stores and their Hyundai store, as well as at the Chev dealership.
"Truck sales have been increasing every month for the past three months," Malik said.
Murray Chev staff lends Habitat a helping hand
Tomorrow, Murray Chev staff members are going to be lending a hand at Habitat for Humanity's construction site on Fernbank Avenue just west of Main Street in the Riverbend area.
The Manitoba Auto Mall dealership has also provided for Habitat's transportation needs for the sixth year running by loaning the organization an Express Cargo van from April through the end of August to pick up and deliver supplies to the construction sites.
Habitat is an international non-profit organization that builds affordable housing with volunteer labour for low-income families who also participate in the building of their homes and other Habitat houses.
