Manitoba racer completes Formula 3 test in Italy
FOLLOWING a seat fitting in Team Ghinzani's race shop close to Milan, Italy, and an exciting visit to Enzo Ferrari's home town of Maranello, Manitoba-born race-car driver David Richert found himself lapping the world-famous circuit of Imola.
Richert recently completed a successful test at Imola in Team Ghinzani's Formula 3 (F3) race car. The Silver Jeans-sponsored driver was one of a dozen drivers who took to the wet track on a chilly Italian morning.
"It was nice to be back at Imola and I greatly enjoyed my first chance to drive a Formula 3 car", Richert said. "Everything went according to plan, so we'll see what the coming weeks bring and hopefully I will be in a position to compete at a high level full-time in 2012."
Richert, who was raised on a family farm near Niverville, got his first big break in racing after being chosen one of the top 30 young drivers in North America. He then competed with Volkswagen in 2008 and 2009, and this year drove for Team Torino Motorsport in Italian Formula Renault.
