Police said Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue members went out onto extremely thin ice conditions and recovered the body of a 55-year-old man from the area.

As well, the OPP Emergency Response Team searched the shoreline for 43-year-old Diane Otto, who is missing. The department’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit has also been called in to look for the woman.

OPP say the investigation is continuing and more information will be released when available.

Meanwhile, OPP are warning people to stay off the ice because of the dangerous conditions caused by the recent warm temperatures and rain.
