$110-million operating budget approved for U of W

The University of Winnipeg board of regents has approved a $110-million operating budget for the 2012-2013 academic year.

U of W has had to pump $3 million into the budget to fund ongoing pension problems, and is leaving $4 million worth of jobs vacant.

However, the university will hire 11 tenure track professors and 11 new instructors, primarily in the arts.

Tuition for a maximum course load will increase by less than $100 per student, the university said.
